Having a progressive mindset helps to outline a strategy for achieving objectives.

The right mindset is an asset that has implacable effects on one’s personality. Open mindset plays a vital role in individuals’ approach towards things, peoples and an event. Growth mindset and Fixed mindset theory were first proposed by American Psychologist. After her decade of research, she highlights two types of mindset, A fixed mindset and a growth mindset in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of success. A growth mindset assumes that skills, intelligence and personality can develop with learning and practice, while a fixed mindset believes that either you have skills and intelligence or you don’t have. There isn’t much to do about it.

Developing a Growth Mindset

Developing a growth mindset is important for Personal development, career and social life. It gives us the perspective of how to adapt to a new environment, be ambitious and keep a healthy approach towards the surrounding. Here are a few techniques to develop a growth mindset.

1. Failures as an opportunity:

Everyone makes mistakes, but the most important thing is how we take our mistakes and failures, do we accept them and give up. Or we bounce back and learn from our experiences and reflect on our experience and analyse our faults, and make deliberate changes accordingly. Failures compel us to review our approach and adopt changes. For example, this one study shows the importance of failures to achieve our goals.

2. Learning new Skills:

Learning new skills helps foster the growth mindset besides, a new skill-set can lead to new opportunities. It also gives us an intrinsic reward to learn skills that interests us. We feel more drawn to activities or things that give us a good feeling. According to this research, 69% of people who were lifelong learners acknowledged that they had a new perspective towards life.

3. Break the Comfort zone:

Getting out of the comfort zone also develops the growth mindset. It helps to overcome obstacles and deal with challenges. By doing do the goals seem more attainable and lead to the achievement of goals and targets. As Muhammad Ali said; “ I hated every minute of training, but I said, Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”

4. Feedback:

I know feedback can be tough to deal with. But Yes, it helps us to reflect on our week points. It provides us insight to work on the areas that need attention. We can really use it to improve our personal growth.
